Bulk-update many contacts at once
Select a group of contacts by hand, by page, or by search, then add them to a sphere, change strength, archive, merge, or message them all at once.
Update ten people or two hundred in the same handful of clicks. Once you've selected the right group, one action applies to all of them.
Why it matters
Some relationship maintenance only makes sense at scale: recalibrating strength across a whole sphere, archiving everyone from a job you left years ago, pulling a list for a group you're announcing something to. Doing that contact by contact would take longer than the update is worth. Select the right people once, and let one action do the rest.
How it works
On the Database page, you build a selection three ways: check off individual contacts, select everyone visible on the current page, or select everyone matching your current search or filter, including people not shown on screen. Once you've selected a group, Bulk Actions applies one change to all of them at once: add or remove a sphere or topic, set strength or importance, set a location, archive, merge, or start a split message.
How to use it
- Find your group first: search or filter until the Database table shows the people you mean.
- Select them: check the box next to each contact, or check the box at the top of the table to select everyone on the page.
- Or select everyone the filter found: if your group is bigger than one page, choose Select all matching this search to include everyone that matches, not just what's visible.
- Open Bulk Actions: choose what to do with the group — add or remove a sphere or topic, set strength or importance, set a location, archive, merge into one contact, or start a split message.
- Confirm: actions like archiving or merging ask you to confirm before they run. For a merge, you'll also pick which contact is the main one.
Good to know
- Bulk strength and importance updates overwrite the existing score for everyone selected. There's no "nudge up" option, just a new value for the whole group.
- Archiving a group doesn't delete anyone. It just moves them out of your active views.
- Merging a selected group asks you to choose the main contact; the rest merge into it.
- To take a filtered list out of Relatable instead of updating it, use export. It respects your current filter.
