MCP lets an AI tool you already use — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or another MCP-capable client — connect straight to your Relatable account, so it can look things up and take action without you switching apps.

Why it matters

You're often already mid-conversation with an AI assistant when the thought "I should log this" or "who was that person again" crosses your mind. Connecting Relatable means that assistant can actually answer, using your real data, instead of you stopping to open a different app and start over.

How it works

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside tools and data sources with your permission. Once you connect Relatable to an MCP-capable client, that assistant gets access to the same set of actions Whiz uses internally: finding a person, pulling up what you know about them, creating or updating a contact, adding a note or reminder, drafting or sending an email. You sign in with your Relatable account to grant access, the same way you'd connect any other account to that AI tool, and the assistant only acts within what your account can already do.

How to use it

  1. On the web: go to Account settings → AI and follow the prompt to connect a client.
  2. In your AI client — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or another MCP-capable app — look for its option to add a connector, tool, or MCP server, and choose Relatable.
  3. You'll be sent to sign in to Relatable and approve the connection.
  4. Once connected, ask that assistant to look something up or take an action in your Relatable account, the same way you'd ask Whiz.

Good to know

  • The exact steps for adding an MCP connector vary by AI tool — check that tool's own settings for its "connectors," "tools," or "MCP servers" option.
  • A connected client can only do what your Relatable account can already do — it can't see teammates' private data or bypass your account's normal permissions.
  • You can revoke access at any time from Account settings → MCP, which immediately cuts off that client.
  • This is separate from Whiz inside the Relatable app — MCP is for using an outside AI tool with your Relatable data, not a replacement for Whiz.
